Our story

Welcome to Chateau Goldenstein

Chateau Goldenstein, Kolštejn Castle in Czech, historically known as Goldenstein. The castle and ruins of the Goldenstein castle were founded by the Wustenhube family in the 13th century along the country road from Moravia to Silesia.

Kolštejn probably acquired its final form as an excellently fortified and hardly conquerable medieval castle under the Lords of Zvola, during the Czecho-Hungarian Wars. Its layout at that time can still be seen: the surrounding castle wall, the remains of the castle palace on the west side and a large tower on the platform above the valley.

In the 16th century, the Žerotín family began rebuilding the castle into a comfortable Renaissance residence, then the Lords of Vrbno continued the rebuilding. In the 18th century, it was sold to the Lichtenstein family.

The last reconstruction of the castle took place in 2013, when it was modified so that everyone could try to stay in the historic castle for a while.

Each of the 21 rooms has a different style and layout. The rooms are located in the Liechtenstein wing, in the Arcades or in the oldest Upper courtyard. The rooms have diverse views of the Branná river valley, the lower courtyard, the Jeseník mountains or Fojtství and the church of St. Michael the Archangel.

Experience your day at a fairytale castle. Chateau Godenstein has unique spaces with a unique atmosphere, it depends on you whether you prefer the ceremony in the castle chapel or in the historic courtyard. We will prepare the wedding feast in the Knight’s Hall. We offer wedding preparation for your entire wedding with an experienced team.

Chateau Goldenstein is the ideal place for your event, both family, corporate and cultural. We offer the entire Chateau Goldenstein for rent, including the hotel rooms. Maximum number of guests 77. Everything according to individual requirements. Please contact us for more information.

It is possible to rent the premises of the castle, both short-term and long-term. We are currently lending one of our halls to local artists.

Sports and tourism

The village of Branná is an ideal starting point for your sports and tourism. The nearest ski lift is only 5 minutes away from the castle. Nearby areas and their cable cars can be used all year round for your tourist trips.

Beautiful mountain nature, springs and waterfalls, mountain solitudes and ideal conditions for trips at any time of the year. Here you will discover a spa, the highest mountain of Jeseníky Praděd, places surrounded by legends about witches, such as Peter’s Stones or Velké Losiny.
